Peer Support Programs

George Mason University Sexual Assault Services (GMU SAS) is committed to providing a comprehensive response to all reports of sexual assault. An integral part of that is a two-tiered peer support network consisting of Peer Educators and Peer Advocates. This Peer Support Program was developed to establish a network of trained student volunteers to provide information, support, and direct assistance to victims/survivors of sexual assault. To participate in the Peer Support Program at any level you must attend a comprehensive training.

Peer Advocate:The Sexual Assault Peer Advocate Program is a group of volunteer students, faculty and staff who provide a range of services to address the needs of victims (as well as families/significant others) impacted by sexual and/or relationship violence.

Peer Educator: Peer Educators are graduate or undergraduate students who help SAS provide education and outreach to the community through presentations and other major events.
